How to recognize a crystal?
Imitation crystal lacks high gloss and sparkle. Crystal chandeliers are distinguished by a unique refraction of light that multiplies the power of light from incandescent bulbs. Ordinary glass or acrylic plastics, the most commonly used materials in crystal imitation, do not have this property.
You can also detect imitation crystal by its weight. Imitations can be up to half the weight of a genuine crystal product. Imitation crystals lack the high gloss and sparkle.
One of the clues to identify crystal is the price. Quality comes at a price, and it is not realistic for somewhere to offer genuine crystal two or three times cheaper.
