The museum in Jílové u Prahy (CZ) is housed in the impressive historic building known as "Mince," which served as a royal gold mining office in the 14th century. From here, the extraction of gold that made Jílové famous far beyond the borders was managed. But this house was not only home to officials and miners – its most renowned resident was the legendary alchemist Edward Kelley, who sought the secrets of the philosopher’s stone at the court of Emperor Rudolf II.
Today, visitors can explore unique exhibitions dedicated to gold, alchemy, and Czech tramping in this historic setting. And in one of its most distinguished rooms, our crystal chandelier now shines.
Light That Brings History to Life
This room serves not only for regular meetings and discussions with distinguished guests but also as an exhibition space. During Christmas and Easter, visitors can admire how these holidays were celebrated in wealthy families of the past.
The newly renovated lounge breathes history – the massive wooden furniture with richly carved details in the Neo-Renaissance style pays homage to the era of Rudolf II., when the Renaissance was at its peak, instantly transporting you to another time. Perfectly complementing this elegant setting is a crystal chandelier with 28 glass arms, which not only enhances the historical character of the interior but also bathes it in a shimmering light. Mrs. Jana Pálová from the museum cannot praise the new lighting enough:"Unlike the original chandelier, this one provides perfect illumination, making the entire space bright and beautifully lit. We are beyond satisfied!"
Every detail of the chandelier is meticulously crafted – from the finely cut bowls to the richly faceted crystal pendants, which capture the light and scatter delicate rainbow reflections across the walls, truly bringing the room to life.
